Three amazing pieces of Italian design from the late 50s and early 60s.
Fontana Arte’s occasional table (ca. 1958) and table lamp (ca. 1960) as well as Ettore Sottsass’s mirror (ca. 1957) are refined examples how designers incooperated traditional techniques and forms in the elaboration of modernity for home furnishing and accessories.
Defining new ways of contemporary design, focusing on a constant dialogue between shapes, materials, textures and and traditional processes, they bring out the very essence of Italian elegance and sophistication. …
